About SHAMS Free Zone

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the Emirate of Sharjah has launched a free zone, which is known as the Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) Free Zone.

Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) Free Zone is the largest free zone in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It was established in 1993 and its total land area is 2.5 million square meters.

The purpose of SHAMS Free Zone is to create an independent and self-sufficient business environment that will help promote development of the UAE’s economy, diversify its economy and attract foreign investment.

SHAMS Free Zone provides a conducive environment for investors who want to establish their businesses in Sharjah. It has many advantages such as free trade zone status, tax exemption on imported goods, zero customs duty on imported goods, zero value added tax (VAT) on imported goods, zero taxes on capital gains from sale of shares or bonds issued by companies registered in the zone and other services related to business setup in Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) free zone including business consulting services for start-ups and SMEs.
